The customer service is appalling. Here are two recent examples. I returned a pair of trousers at the same time as I was buying 6 items. Unknown to me, the assistant put the exchange for the trousers against one of the tops I was buying. As it turned out, I decided not to keep that top but I kept everything else that I bought that day. When I tried to return the particular top I was told I couldn’t unless I had the original receipt for the trousers they had been exchanged against. I waited 5 minutes with a lengthening queue while the assistant fetched her supervisor. No logical argument changed anything with the supervisor. I left with the top I didn’t want because I no longer have the receipt for the trousers I had returned. The top is now in a charity shop with its label still on. Example 2 - I bought 2 items. They didn’t fit. I brought them back. I was one day past the refund date because I had been ill with Covid. It didn’t matter to them - a day late was a day late. No allowance for Covid. As always the queue was a mile long while. Dunnes don’t do credit notes. I was told to buy something of the same value. I was tired and still unwell from Covid and not able to shop and then stand again in the queue. I left the shop and let them keep the items. They might sell them again or they might bin them but either way the inflexible and uncaring treatment I endured on both occasions has caused me to decide that I am done with Dunnes.
